We had a fun, productive Association meeting tonight. In case you've never been to one, they're real barnstormers, featuring ear-splitting music, wild dancing, glow sticks, and questionable morality.
No, wait. That's a rave. I get those confused.
But seriously, many fun things were discussed, such as:
1) THE ST PATRICK'S DAY PARTY - Which is actually not held on St Patrick's Day, but on Thursday, March 14th. To help make the event a success, it would be great if parents could volunteer for small, manageable tasks like decorating the elementary school or loaning out your oven for bread baking. We'll post a virtual volunteer sign-up sheet here next week. As a special fundraising element for the party, we will once again be holding a raffle. If you own or work at a business that would like to donate a prize, let us know. We'd be most appreciative.
2) KID-FREE FIRST FRIDAYS - Starting April 5th, on the first Friday night of each month, Sunflower will offer a special kids' night out childcare service. For $20 for the first child and $15 for each additional child, you can bring your kiddo to Sunflower on First Friday nights for a healthy dinner, games and fun from 6:30p - 9p. There will be a sign-up sheet available on the week before each First Friday, so you can sign up. Advance sign-ups will be required so Katie/Correy can plan how many teachers will need to be on staff. We know that April 5th is in the week of Spring Break, but we anticipate that many families will still be in town and will want to take advantage of the service.
3) THE DIRECTORY - Everyone should have gotten a hard copy by now. Let us know if you haven't. Also, if you'd prefer a copy to be e-mailed to you, let me know, and I'll send you a pdf. I'm not going to do a mass e-mailing, because the attachment (at 13MB, compressed) is obnoxiously large.
There will be another Association meeting in March. I hope to see you there. I'll be the confused one in glittery spandex.
